How chain link fence cost is calculated
Installed chain link is usually bid by the linear foot. The national baseline is a 4 ft residential galvanized run; taller fabric, heavier gauge, vinyl coat, and privacy slats scale that rate. Posts still follow spacing so you can sanity-check footings.

Worked example. A 150 ft × 4 ft residential galvanized run at $10–$20/lf with one gate is about $1,700–$3,800 before slope uplift. Add privacy slats at $5–$15/lf and the same run gains $750–$2,250. At 10 ft spacing you need roughly 16 posts on a straight line.
